Keep Important Information at Your Fingertips
How do you keep important information? Documents, contacts, and records? Bills and budgets? Do you keep them? Can you find them? Is it easy?
Look, I don’t credit myself with knowing everything, but I do know organization. Without it, my life would be a mess. I could say that I really started being organized when I started having more kids than your average household, and I almost wrote that here. But that wouldn’t be entirely true.
I remember cleaning my room before doing my jr high homework so I’d be able to focus. I remember rotating nonperishables in the kitchen cabinets when my dad would come home from the grocery store… and making spreadsheets on Microsoft Excel for his business. These were my teen years.
Obviously, organizing has always been a part of my DNA.
It calms me. It gives me a sense of accomplishment. And can you imagine the pure joy of just knowing where things are?! I don’t ever want to live any other way.
I’ve already shared my system for storing and organizing personal and vital records, in addition to insurance, homeowners, and legal documents. I call it the Atomic Mom Binder. If you haven’t read about it yet, you can find that here.
The Atomic Mom Binder is really a lifesaver for many, many reasons. It contains the documents you’ll need when you register your child for school, sign them up for sports, or take them to get their permit or license. Everything is in one convenient place. And if an emergency ever arises, you’ll be able to grab your binder and go without worrying about losing your important documents.
But today I’m sharing the Atomic Home Binder.
I put the Atomic Home Binder together years ago to help me keep track of other equally important, albeit less sensitive, information. I use it to keep track of bills, medications, and important contact information. I usually use a 3-hole punch for my budget pages (since they’re temporary) and use page protectors for the things I know won’t change for a while. And again, if an emergency ever arises I can grab it and go.
This is what you never knew you needed. And you can have it in a free printable.
Keeping track of bills
This printable has a bill tracker for every month that includes everything from the amount due and due date to payment method and confirmation number. Use the boxes at the bottom of each month to help you plan what bills will be paid from specific paychecks. (You can’t stick with a plan if you don’t have one to begin with.)
The bill payment checklist helps you see what bills you’ve paid and what still needs to be paid at a glance. It really is just a checklist but has the whole year on one page! You can get caught up if you’re behind or pay ahead, but it’s easy to see it all on this one-page checklist.
Important contact info
I always hated having to search for a bill to find a phone number or account number. These days we’re all just hoping our phones don’t log out of our accounts because we may never remember our password!
The pages here include:
- Emergency Information
- Utilities and Services Contact List
- Insurance Information
- Medical Yellowpages
- School/Class/Teacher Information
Not only will you be able to access these numbers quickly in an emergency but so will your spouse and your kids.
Medical Information
There are pages here where you can keep track of doctor visits and medical expenses (which can really come in handy at tax time), but my personal favorite is the medications list. This list alone contains family member name, medication, dosage, frequency, and prescribing physician among others. These kinds of things are imperitive to have on hand in case of emergency.
Your most important information
This is not actually my most comprehensive Atomic Home Binder. The one I use myself also includes a weekly menu, grocery list, chores checklist, spring cleaning checklist, car maintenance checklist, plus pre-travel and packing lists.
I didn’t want to overwhelm you with what I deem “the extras,” so I decided to give you only the most important tools to start your Atomic Home Binder. I’ll soon be adding another post containing the rest of these printables so you should definitely come back for that!
Until then, have fun getting organized. Your stress level will thank you.
In addition to the original printable below, I have added a blank printable (no design) and a color-your-own printable (outline of design only) so your Atomic Home Binder can reflect who you are.

Have a blessed week friends!
